CMEF Internal Medicine Residency
Welcome to CMEF!
The Mission of Canton Medical Education Foundation's Internal Medicine Residency
To graduate physicians who are fully prepared to be Boarded and enter the independent practice of general internal medicine;
support those who desire to pursue additional subspecialty training; develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to achieve the ultimate
goal of improving health by providing quality, compassionate, evidence-based healthcare to all communities that our graduates may serve.

​Our AIMS:
  • To provide a clinical learning environment committed to graduate medical education in a community setting  
  • To train internists to focus on excellence in delivery of safe, equitable, affordable, quality care; and the health of the populations they serve
  • To optimize patient care under the supervision of faculty members who both instruct and serve as role models of excellence, compassion, professionalism, and scholarship
  • To develop physician scholars who integrate new knowledge into practice
  • To prepare a diverse group of physicians to meet the American Board of Internal Medicine requirements for certification and to practice independently as general internists in the inpatient or outpatient setting, or enter further specialty training
  • To teach and promote personal well-being and resiliency skills to residents, faculty members, students, and all members of the health care team

​ACGME Program Requirements, Introduction B, pg 3-4, effective July 1, 2021:
"Internal medicine is a discipline encompassing the study and practice of health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, care, and treatment of men and women from adolescence to old age, during health and all stages of illness.  ​Intrinsic to the discipline are scientific knowledge, the scientific method of problem solving, evidence-based decision making, a commitment to lifelong learning, and an attitude of caring that is derived from humanistic and professional values."
